The US only fought in Europe because Hitler declared war on the US. FDR did not want to go to war with Germany FDR's plan was to arm & equip the USSR & let them bleed & die fighting the Nazis - while the US concentrated on defeating Japan Hitler declaring war gave us no option.

If America hadn’t bankrolled the Allies and sent 116,000 men to die to “support” the Allies in WW1, no one would have known who Hitler was. It is nothing but hubris to assume we can predict the longterm outcomes of our intervention, but history tells us that they are terrible.

If there were a fascist French government ruling Canada from Montreal, put in place by a Russian-funded coup, oppressing the English speakers and promising to have Canada join the #Russian Federation, I do wonder how the government in Washington DC would react.
