The quality of personhood being displayed by the Ukrainians at this point is stunning. Those who are fighting are so fierce, and those who are desperately fleeing with their children are so calm. Wow.

Right, I completely agree. People are being forced to fight or flee due to war, I’m not sure if it is appropriate to deem certain approaches as stunning.
