1/ $780 billion a year is our military budget. We invaded Iraq although it never did anything to us. We stayed in Afghanistan at least 10 years longer than we needed to, doing nothing to bolster a democratic government.

Iraq was revenge and free oil, it's not helpful to pretend we had an actual valid reason for that invasion. Having said that you are right, there is an imbalance in our responses to events in different regions of the world.

Respect your opinions very much Marianne but I think this is not the time the be spending less on national defense. We clearly have real enemies to freedom who are willing to shed blood to threaten it.
