For 50 yrs we bought the illusion that mutual assured destruction keeps everyone safe. That only works when leaders are sane enough to put preserving life before accumulating power. If any good comes from this, it will be awakening to the sheer insanity of nukes existing at all.

Putin is hinting at using tactical nuclear weapons, he is insane, but there's no way to avoid WWIII if that happens, lets hope that sane Russian people in positions of power prevent that from happening

But how to be unopen that box? I'm asking this honestly. I don't know how we can ever get rid of them and know that they'll stay gone forever. We unlocked the power to destroy all life and now we're all hostages of that moment.

Tactical nuke are the only thing that stops Putin from taking Europe Not saying I like it but its reality would you to war if he attacked Poland or Romania? What if he wanted half of Germany back?

You don't get it. MAD was never about getting US and Russia to not wage war at all, but to not wage war directly with one another. Putin is using that just like every previous leader did. They conduct an operation relying on MAD to prevent direct US involvement.
