Children aren’t old enough to vote, so they’re not a political constituency; they aren’t old enough to work, therefore they have no financial leverage. As a consequence they are treated as little more than collateral damage within a system that thinks business is the bottom line.
In December 2021, child poverty was 12.1 percent. By January 2022, it had increased 4.9 points, to 17 percent. This is a catastrophe. No child should grow up in poverty. That is the bare minimum in a country as rich as America.

I remember you saying this during your campaign ... and of course it's getting worse because, as your say, they have no financial leverage ... I'm glad to see the Gravel Institute is following these kinds of issues ... I'm sure Mike Gravel would be proud of these kids!

I've always believed in the statement that every adult is the parent of every child.

I wonder what happened in that time to contribute to that problem...

Finally someone that speaks sense to the egregious ways our system marginalizes children..
In the US, children do work. In fact, only the US failed to sign UN resolution against child labor.

‘The System’ is the worst possible parent. If you can’t afford them, don’t have them.
