It has been theft from the middle class. But the thieves were (and still are) the private colleges & universities who have inflated their costs far above the rate of inflation and middle class wage increases. And this greed has spread into public colleges in a lot of states.

I get where your heart is on this. The language i would use is that we have so many rats on board the vessel that we are sinking, even taking on water. We need to dump the rats into ocean until we're seaworthy again. Once we get to port we need to ensure we keep rats off the boat
