Just to be clear, at least 15 years of US military presence in Afghanistan was based on “misinformation” coming from the highest levels of our govt. Thousands of Americans, at least hundreds of thousands of Afghans died because of it. No bigger “misinformer” than the Pentagon.

Before 1980, Afghanistan produced 0% of the world's opium. After the USA/CIA backed Mujahideen won the Soviet/Afghan War, by 1986 they were producing 40% of the worlds heroin supply. By 1999, they were producing 80% of the total market supply. Then something unexpected happened..

I don't disagree, but I really get the feeling you're trying to justify being against people taking stronger actions against virus misinformation.

Congress should have been aware that they were being lied to. It was their responsibility to dig up the truth. So whether they knew or not, all the presidents and most of congress are liars, thieves, and mass murderers.

Even on covid, no one has told bigger more consequential lies than public health officials. Where’s the outrage about health institutions having no credibility from Niel Young and Joni Mitchell?
