Just to be clear, at least 15 years of US military presence in Afghanistan was based on “misinformation” coming from the highest levels of our govt. Thousands of Americans, at least hundreds of thousands of Afghans died because of it. No bigger “misinformer” than the Pentagon.

Donald Rumsfeld was a huge proponent for war.
Too many people in the Pentagon have not read Kipling (let alone failing to make note of all that rusting Russian military equipment); anyone with any sense knows that Afghanistan impossible.

We also need to understand its relationship with Britain since WWII. We've been working hand in glove in our imperialist expansion, though leadership here in the United States has been tumultuous. Their monarchy is still intact.
