I'm triple vaxxed, but (unless they're standing for hate or calling for violence) banning someone's podcast is too much like burning a book to me. Joe Rogan should talk on his podcast about whatever he damn well pleases.

He can. He has the right of free speech but not the right to a particular platform. Spotify is free to make editorial choices about what it wants or doesn’t want on its platform.

Spotify doesn’t owe creators a platform, and it doesn’t owe listeners anything they want. It says it right in the Terms of Service you sign when you join.

That doesn't mean a public or private company has to be obligated to be a host platform for the podcast. He can talk into the void all he wants, but companies can decide if it is of value to them...

Rogan downright uses the N word on his podcasts. He said black people weren’t black unless they were 100% African from the darkest place where they aren’t wearing clothes all day & they have developed all melanin to protect themselves from the sun. I’d say that qualifies as hate.

Spotify doesn’t just host Rogan’s podcast. They have a multi-million $ exclusivity agreement.

Two things you got wrong. Banning is only for government. A private company has the right to not publish what goes against their rules which you agree when you sign in. He is free to say what he wants, that doesn't mean he doesn't have to pay for the consequences.

He is. He does. He has freedom of speech but no guarantee that he won’t be criticized or boycotted. The call is against misinformation. You down with that?

There is a difference between ‘banning’ and choosing to disassociate. Sure Rogan can talk his crap on whoever will sponsor him but as a consumer I get to choose where I spend my money and to align with entities that depict my personal views.

The word "banned" is creating an unnecessary "tower of Babel." Whatever. Expecting Spotify not to host problematic content is an appropriate response, as is leaving spotify. His podcast can still exist without being allowed on a specific platform. That's not book burning.

Book burning is a form of free speech.
