I'm triple vaxxed, but (unless they're standing for hate or calling for violence) banning someone's podcast is too much like burning a book to me. Joe Rogan should talk on his podcast about whatever he damn well pleases.

It’s not what @joerogan is saying that’s the issue, it’s that all media outlets are tanking and he’s doubled his listeners in the last 12-18 months. They are attacking the competition due to losses of revenue

It’s less “he has a podcast on Spotify” (anyone can do that for free) and more “Spotify paid nine figures for exclusivity and even more on marketing, betting on hate and misinfo as a profit strategy.” Spotify is not a passive player. They have a motive to actively promote him.

Boycotting a product or service is NOT the same thing as censorship. Musicians have a right to withdraw their catalogues from and customers have a right to stop paying for a streaming service that profits off of deadly lies during a public health crisis.

If I own a bookstore and I don’t carry someone’s books that isn’t like book burning at all. It’s a specious analogy. If you find Joe Rogan objectionable and harmful talk to Spotify in a language they understand, don’t give them your money.

I agree. And I don’t favor those who make ultimatums like that. If there is false info being shared through a public communication venue then the FCC should do their job. And while they are at it, I hope they do something about #FOX. #Spotify
