"Per law, Thompson must either provide part of his social security number." That's not too difficult a fix. My sister and I help my 92-year-old mother get her mail-in ballots. The real worry is when votes are thrown out through changes in the law.

Yes ... If he's been relying on Mail-in Ballots for years ... and they limit the number of Mail-in Ballots ... then he certainly could loose his vote!

The problem is worse on the other side of the issue. This is a hassle but not a problem.

Why problem? This is good. People should be going out and voting

This is an anomalous event that I’m sure will be corrected. It’s unlikely a “gazillion” people have been relying on mail in ballots for 40 years. We have *17 days* of early voting. 80% of Americans support voter ID requirements. This shouldn’t be an all or nothing scenario.

I think there will be issues that need to be addressed and if they are not there must be consequences regardless of party. But for every one person like this gentleman, there’s at least one that is is disenfranchised by ballot harvesting or worse.
