No, definitely not. We don’t inflict torture on 12 year olds and we fought a global war so that they wouldn’t have to experience those things at 12 years old.

I agree. I would add, though, that there is a difference between teaching history and making children feel responsible for it. Of course they can handle difficult subjects, but I’m not sure they can handle feeling shame and blame for them. The teacher matters.
