They were Republicans - Hillary Clinton interned for Nelson Rockefeller nytimes.com/2007/09/05/us/po… and filed the impeachment papers for Nixon, ushering in VP Nelson Rockefeller. bloomberg.com/news/features/… HRC and Biden left the Republican Party over Nixon.
