Almost every developed country except ours has universal healthcare. Almost every developed country except ours has some form of free college. How is it possible that Americans have been trained to expect so little?

Not to mention much higher retirement income payouts. Turns out, the return on your extra taxes paid was like buying Amazon at $500/share. Wouldn't work here. Definitively flies in the face of our comforting, steady American pragmatic.

We've been trained to think government services are bad, that the free market can always do it better, that we are more free than anyone else because we have 'small government'. These are the myths perpetrated by the wealthy because it works for them.
