The majority of Americans want universal healthcare; the majority want free college; the majority want a higher minimum wage; the majority want to cancel the college loan debt. So yeah, let’s definitely not run on that because it would turn people off.

I've lived in a number of Western countries and I've come to see that in the US we have the biggest "Democracy Gap". The gap between the laws and programs a majority wants, often 67% or more, and the actual laws we live under. Most laws people want dont even get VOTED on.

Be careful you don't over promise and under deliver. I know many thought student loan debt would be eliminated or substantially reduced and made plans around that. The failure to deliver has hurt them worse than if they promised nothing.
