Over the years I have heard Black actors referred to as their White counterparts: so & so is the Black Humphrey Bogart. Not once can I recall an up & coming White actor called the White Sydney Poitier.

It's worth noting that Mr. Portier won that Oscar because he was a great actor, not because he had dark skin.

Thank you Marianne. Sidney Poirier was one of the very few actors who wasn't full of himself. He had grace and humility under all that strength. We don't have many like him anymore. Rest in our collective power, then peace.
