A person just OD'd by my doorstep and all I can think of is how an industry of war worth trillions can be sustained but we can't fix homelessness, drug addiction, our schooling, universal Healthcare, etc..... me thinks we can but we just don't.

Its Literally a formality now. The Military doesnt need this money. Never Do. Most of it goes to Simulated War games, they always get their asses kicked in. The narrative justifying this blatant waste of money is "dEfeNsE"........

Constantly. Then I looked into the thing and I did find most answers.A 3erd of the budget isfor maintenance and repair ofevery building,living counters. armourment and ammunition. Another 3erd is for salaries,bonuses and pensions of military personnel. final 3erd is sorta secret

We have positioned ourselves as the protectors of the world. The EU military budget is small because they rely on the US to protect it's allies in Europe.
