If student debt is canceled people will get married, make babies, purchase homes, take a vacation, quit that sucky job and live in their purpose, eat more veggies, grow a garden, adopt a puppy, give more to charity, be less miserable…and rich people will still get richer.

While cancelling student debt may feel good to the holder of the said debt, you're forgetting about the people on the other side of the equation: the people who underwrite those debts.

Yep. The reason that @POTUS and other lawmakers don’t get this, there must be some reallll slimy stuff going on behind the scenes to keep people in debt. I can’t think of ANY Other reason not to forgive it unless their goal is to keep people in debt forever.

Love the sentiment … but if people are not systematically impoverished … How much would people have to be paid to lose fingers gutting iced fish, getting sick from cleaning ambulances, losing lung function, limbs and life from mining … ?
