It’s a shame that people of faith who are progressive or even those who consider themselves moderate are so hesitant to speak up when their faith is hijacked by reactionaries. Too many won’t speak up due to fear of conflict and conformity.

People of faith are seldom progressive. The nature of worshipping an ancient, very altered "holy book" is the essence of conservatism. They don't look to the future, they only acknowledge a manicured version the past. And they want that history to repeat itself perpetually.
