If the powers that be cared one iota about the future of this country they wouldn’t be drowning our young people in endless college loan debt; they’d be providing endless opportunities for free higher education.

If the powers that be cared about Americans we would have universal healthcare, living wages, paid family leave & free higher education just like REAL first world countries. Unfortunately, we’ve been conned into believing we’re actually one but we’re just a lab for the wealthy.

It works out for capitalists if huge portions of the population don't have access to higher education, That way they can make a ton of money without having to perform undesirable tasks (leave that to the uneducated). We need to start calling this out for what it is.

If there was free higher education they wouldn't be able to fill their quotas for the military. Party politics insist the military comes first.

USE THIS PERSON AS EX: $100K/yr - should have no problem paying off debt in 5 years or so & then still be Wealthier than a lot of people. That's by in part why tax payers paying student debt would be WAY WAY unfair to others. College can be investment.
Here's how a 30-year-old physical therapist with over $230,000 in student loan debt spends her money: cnb.cx/32zYTxb (via @CNBCMakeIt)

Paying off someone's debt w/ tax money yet not others is unfair. you would essentially make the wealthier wealthier and the poor would remain poor. They went to college so they can get higher paying job... so they already have an advantage. It is like an investment.

Government handouts of money in this order must be fair. If they want to give every graduating high school senior x amount of money to start their life, that would be one thing. To selectively pay college kids only, would not be fair. There's already too many unfair payouts...

College ed is an investment - people do it so they can get HIGHER PAYING JOB - if you pay them off and NOT those who lost on stock market - well it would be like playing favorites. Can you follow what I am getting at? All citizens should get CUT of the loot when doing payouts.

And they would be doing something to address global warming. Now that #COP26 is over and the private jets have left, what did we (the U.S.) promised to do? And by when?
