Hard study and the drive for success is cultural in their society. Too much of our society seems to be lax. It's not always how much money for teacher salaries that you can throw at it. The drive to learn and succeed has to be there. Why a lot of Asian Americans are successful.

Why is "competing with China" something we need to do? Why can't we work with China? That's clearly what they would like, it's the US who insists on "competing" in order to remain top dog.
