2/ For decades the US government has done more to serve profit maximization for American corporations exploiting Latin America than to serve genuinely democratic ideals. We have even done so violently, in many ways to the detriment of genuinely democratic forces.

3/ Having in many ways obstructed rather than served the forces that would better the lives of so many people in Latin America over the last 50 years, the US has thereby contributed to the suffering of millions who are now banging on our door. Karma much?

USA has definitely made mistakes in LA but to say the other side would have "bettered the lives" is BS. In some places the only difference between the Socialist and the Nationalist is whether you have to bow or kneel to military.

We should be supporting democracy, and not paternalistically thinking we know which side is better. It shouldn’t be our call.
