In the richest country in the world, no one needs to live in poverty; no one needs to be homeless; no one needs to be uneducated; no one needs to be underfed; no one needs to be without healthcare, clean water or healthy food. Every one of those results from bad policy decisions.

Most of which are intentional because a lot of policy is actually written (not metaphorically) by Corporations, or were written years ago by 100% actual racists who drafted laws to punish people of color for daring to want equal rights. "Bad policy decisions" sounds accidental.
And I wish to God you were President to help fix this. But we can only do what we can, but that little bit, let's do!

I am a progressive hoping that we can build a new people's party. Yet I understand that certain problems are more complex than meets the eye. Homelessness is ugly to look at. I believe alot of the homelessness has roots in drug addiction and mental health.

Nope. Every one of those "failings" is an intentional policy-driven outcome. Capitalism must have an underclass to work (and I use the word "work" very lightly).

No doubt you've seen this, but just in case you haven't: peoplesresponseact.com "We must dismantle our public safety system鈥檚 instinct to criminalize and replace it with an instinct to provide care."
