Saying we shouldn’t cancel the college loan debt because it would be unfair to the people who already paid theirs, is like saying we shouldn’t legalize marijuana because it would be unfair to the people who served prison time for it. It’s ridiculous.

Don’t speak well of Colin Powell today thanks

We should overhaul the college loan repayment programs that keep graduates/students saddled in increasing debt. Look at other loans (car, house) you pay the principal down and reduce the interest. Not Govt loans. You have to pay all the interest up front.

any progressive change to fix problems on our landscape would never happen if we cited the people who had to suffer the problem that is being fixed as a reason not to fix the problem.

Education has value and should be paid for in some way; could students who cannot afford tuition can opt for work study during school or service after graduating, which is what students have been doing for decades?

Legalizing marijuana doesn’t cost me, a taxpayer, any money.

It’s a lie. A lie we shouldn’t entertain. We all know that’s not why they won’t cancel it. They’ll never win another election if they do any of the things we actually need as a country.

Forgive all student loans. Also, pay back (with interest) all people who have paid off their student loans. Also, throw those fucking parasite lenders in jail.

@marwilliamson I usually agree with you but in this case I don't. This would only inflate college tuition and condone bad economic decisions. We need better long term solutions.
