To single out the Sackler family as the sole contributor of this tragedy isn't correct. Certainly they were the catalyst but there were countless doctors that prescribed the pills to their patients knowing full well of their addictive traits.
Millions of mainly poor people linger in prison for mainly nonviolent drug offenses, while the billionaire Sackler family - the real criminals in the opioid crisis - suffer little more than a financial slap on the hand and their names removed from the walls of elite institutions.

There are doctors being prosecuted as well, but you can’t compare the damage any one doctor did to the predatory behavior of an entire pharmaceutical company.
