It's defending us against a world that prioritizes people and the environment over personal wealth, hegemonic nationalism, and the egos of oligarchs. I know, right? That would just be crazy.

If we didn’t spend that much we would lose to grass sandaled tribes from the 18th century. Oh wait.

Nothing. Nothing at all. Nobody can invade the US because of geography alone.

ISIS, China, Russia, North Korea, Iran etc. A strong military is an effective deterrent against hostile nations or organizations choosing to engage us militarily or worse.

Defending us from having healthcare Defending us from having housing Defending us from having education Defending us from having living wages Defending us from having any quality of life All of the above refer to the 99% of us while the billionaires get even filthier richer.

My question is, what exactly is being defended? This is a society that does not take care of the most basic needs of its citizens, yet spends billions and billions every year on wars and militarism.
