“We built a state but we could not forge a nation”- DOD Sec.Austin today. It’s such a lie. We didn’t “build a state:” we built & enabled a corrupt government. And we didn’t have to“forge a nation;” Afghanistan has been a nation for 1,000s of years! American arrogance is so toxic.

I agree, it is arrogance to go to other countries and try and impose *our* values (which arise from a “nation”), but my sense is that you’ve been arguing that we should be imposing our modern western cultural norms (eg gender roles, non-violent resolutions) vithroughout this
