It’s not crazy to think we can create a world in which humanitarian principles replace soulless economics as the ordering principle for our civilization. What’s genuinely insane is to think humanity will survive another hundred years if we do not.

People who believe this fundamentally do not understand the singular most powerful force that drives human behavior: incentive. If self preservation and happiness isn’t enough to incentivize prosperity, the well being and happiness of your neighbor will not either.
