We can’t have environmental protection because of profits for fossil fuel companies; we can’t have universal healthcare because of profits for health ins. companies; we can’t have a more peaceful world because of profits for defense contractors. So at what point is enough enough?

Not at all. And I’m very clear what the “real problem” is. The real problem is the undue influence of money on our government, turning it into a system of legalized bribery.
