Nowadays your rural hospital can be run by hedge funds, not hospital local folks. They fire all the staff except maintenance and bring in travel docs and nurses. They ship you out via chopper at your expense to an affiliate.

This happened to me but was just a Dr visit for sprained ankle. Insurance Companies are grifters.
