Yes. When a people has faced persecution for thousands of years their only chance for survival is overachievement. It becomes culturally ingrained for parents to teach their kids “get an education, get an education, get an education” -because “they can’t take that away from you.”

Those days are over. Now our American mishpuchah insists kids become lawyers and brokers (or big name celebrities) and get as rich as they can. The movement toward light was redirected to right, might and fight a long time ago.
I wish it was just cynicism. I can seek help for that. It's what happens when a once profound faith and lamp unto the world is turned into just another petty nationalism.

We’re not a monolith, Ken. Every group is a mix of saints and jerks, none more or less than any other.

Our American family has been torn from the beginning, from financing slave ships to Judah P. Benjamin to the Greenglass family betrayal, we've bred our own Judenrats who now, drunk on Zionism, endeavor to speak for all of us. It's a blessing to have fighters like @ArielElyseGold
