The Patriot Act, invading Iraq, staying in Afghanistan a long time, using the War on Terror as a cash cow for defense contractors, the AUMF, the increasing defense budget, and every politician who pushes those things.

if American politicians had one tenth of one percent of @marwilliamson's wisdom, millions of Iraqis, Hundreds of thousands of Afghanis, including women, and many US soldiers would be alive today, plus trillions of dollars well spent (perhaps to repair broken roads and bridges)!
