Restrictive abortion laws like the one just passed in Texas will not lower the rate of abortions. It will simply mean rich women get safe abortions while poor women will go back to the days of unsafe, dangerous, sometimes even fatal procedures.

You have a lot of compassion, Marianne. Sad you can feel no compassion for all those babies aborted and lives snuffed out. In most cases, quite unnecessarily.

And, ironically, (the folk who welcome this law don’t perceive irony well), make the state browner/blacker and—as a consequence—“bluer”

This isn’t about life any more than election security is about democracy. Women and minorities are just collateral damage in a ruthless act of desperation to maintain a firm grip on political power. The plan is to politicize everything possible to keep people fighting each other.

It is important to ask whether or not that has been the purpose all along.

Fun fact: the highest rate of abortions in the U.S. per year is Washington, D.C. Texas is below average. Worry about New York and New Jersey, Nos. 2 and 3 on the list of shame.

I’m not sure where this argument of rich vs poor came into this debate but it distracts from the fact a child dies with every abortion. Now it’ll be harder to kill than a 10 min appointment. This is a win for women and children.

No it doesn’t. It’s having women take responsibility to either take a plan B or see a doctor with in a six week time instead of just waiting it out. Last time I checked, I knew when a guy came in me DURING SEX. NOT six weeks later.

If a heartbeat is detected that child is protected. Seems logical to me.

I’ve seen 3 threads today calling on women to take matters into their own hands via abstinence or contraception. We call this a “win-win”

There's meds for other conditions that cause spontaneous abortion. Anyone can stockpile them and distribute to women in need via underground connections.
