One reason the debacle in Afghanistan happened is because reporters took what WH & Pentagon told them & never really asked questions, dug deep, researched & investigated. And they’re doing it now! They just take their word for things. “Here’s today’s report on how great we are.”

Maybe that wasn’t the right terminology but I think you misunderstand why the media has taken the tone it has in regards to the withdrawal! They don’t seek to do the deep dive reporting you want them to do because their framing is different than yours!!

To them the war is a failure because we withdrew and because we gave up and because from their perspective (often warped by their national security sources counterparts) they are incentivized to believe that continuing to maintain the previous status quo was possible, it wasn’t.
