One reason the debacle in Afghanistan happened is because reporters took what WH & Pentagon told them & never really asked questions, dug deep, researched & investigated. And they’re doing it now! They just take their word for things. “Here’s today’s report on how great we are.”

That - and they "forgot" things they had already reported - there have been PLENTY of articles in the mainstream press over the 20 years of the fact that there never was a strong Afghani military or a strong Afghani government.

I’m hesitant to agree with such a broad generalization Ms Williamson. There are reporters like Richard Engel that risk their lives to report first hand what’s going on. There were embedded reporters with troops. Here of Sebastian Junger?
