That is the fault of the negotiating team for the union. If they didn't add a clause for it in the collective bargaining deal, the employer could get sued for "influencing" employees. My old job had such a clause to prevent that and we always got bonuses when there was one.

This demonstrates the absurd disconnect senior management & boards have with reality. That CEO no more earned $7.2m than the man in the moon. They should substantially reward the rest of the employees. Your "let them eat cake" attitude will be the death of your company eventually
