I understand those who think we should have left. I also understand some of those who think we should’ve stayed. What I cannot comprehend is anyone minimizing or glossing over the abject terror of 20 million women.

what was the alternative? stay forever? do i feel bad for the afghan people? ya, they are the victims of american shortsightedness. but the solution to that shortsightedness is not to double down.

The idea that we are of service—or in a position to rescue—anyone anywhere in the world, when we haven’t taken care of our own people right here at home is PREPOSTEROUS. The US needs to get its own house in order

The human rights situation is not so good for girls and women in Yemen either. But politicians on both sides of the pond are strangely silent about the irreparable damage being done to women and girls in Yemen. Damage caused by bombs supplied by us to our Saudi allies.

Marianne this is going to be terrible for them. Frankly the only way to maintain stability there is we occupy for 500 years or we annex Afghanistan and it becomes the 51st state, unfortunately it was just not in the cards for us to hold that land. The withdrawal is terrible also
