I understand those who think we should have left. I also understand some of those who think we should’ve stayed. What I cannot comprehend is anyone minimizing or glossing over the abject terror of 20 million women.

Had 20 years to work that out…what makes you think more time will change the culture?

There was no other alternative. The women will have to sacrifice for the sake of final peace in Afghanistan.

Without staying in Afghanistan indefinitely, how exactly is the U.S. military supposed to protect 20 million women?

I hate to use the word misogyny but, it fits. Also, it's just sheer greed because it's mostly based on people wanting the money and resources for themselves.

Empathy can be overused especially when its rooted in a desire that will never come to pass. Our military might only will not change those women’s outcomes nor your pity. We have nothing to show for the last 20y, so therefore we are bound to learn nothing and repeat the mistake.

Dear Marianne. It appears that was just a talking point to continue the invasion. Which is illegal. Just a talking point for the MIC, politicians, and generals. Maybe some cared doesn't matter. Justified TRILLIONS in harming others and ourselves.
