I understand those who think we should have left. I also understand some of those who think we should’ve stayed. What I cannot comprehend is anyone minimizing or glossing over the abject terror of 20 million women.

I can't understand why you're insisting on clinging to this dishonest framing.

And what do u propose to do about it? It was 5 mins ago (1800’s) when american women were circumsized, & wearing head-to-toe hot fabrics, covering ourselves. See Canaletti paintings of St Mark’s Sq. Evolution will come.

As a military veteran, the U.S Armed Forces have a huge issue with keeping women and men safe inside the military from sexual assault. Let alone an entire nation of people. The people of Afghanistan must find a way to move forward. hillandponton.com/facts-on-m…

There are actually 40 million people in Afghanistan, bit weird to not include all of them in a statement about not glossing over the suffering of others. I agree in the broad strokes, but this is a pretty poor way of putting it.

It's our mess, and thus our obligation. I said this was absurd 20 years ago. For 2 trillion we could have bought the country. (I'm sorta-kinda-joking) How many of us protested this 20 years ago? (Raises hand) And I was and remain a huge human rights supporter for women.
