Tolerance of systemic violence against women can’t be justified in the name of anti-imperialism, helping other human beings isn’t “a savior complex,” and leaving the most powerless & desperate people to fend for themselves in the hour of their agony isn’t political sophistication

The military industrial complex spent nearly $100 billion, and 20 years, training the Afghan government forces. They're falling in less than a month. It is the height of privilege to watch what's happening unfold and think anything other than "they never wanted us there".

Nearly 250,000 civilians have been killed in the US invasion and occupation of Afghanistan. How many more civilians have to be mass-murdered before feminism is achieved there?

And now 20 million women and girls will live in terror, plus who knows how many people will be killed. Does that even things out for you? Standing up for women isn't a joke, even if it is for you. I'm not even saying we should have stayed - it's complicated - but give me a break.

Could we please just *acknowledge* the horror 20 million females will be subjected to now, rather than deriding a concern over that as “faux privileged CIA feminism?” Can’t we just bear witness on a human level rather than do a mass “Yeah, too bad”?

Marianne, it's just so hard to realize the helplessness of the situation. We spent our treasure and lives, and let's be honest the temporary improvement for women was a side benefit. But all the effort seems to have gone away in a day. A literal day. What is the real enemy here?

If your upset about what could happen to women in Afganistán, wait until you hear about what they are doing to them right now in our allied country Saudi Arabia.

How about the two of you have a legit conversation? A online forum perhaps? You are both culturally relevant and want peace for as many people as possible. Perhaps a conversation with two incredible people like you could bridge gaps in views? #TheRoadToLiberty #BeFree

Where has this not been acknowledged? Yes, Taliban rule will be horrific. That’s almost universally acknowledged. What now? Are you advocating for more US intervention, or what? The importance of that question doesn’t go away while we’re acknowledging the plight of Afghan women.
We need you and your crystals over there NOW!
If the women in the world rallied together I’m sure they could take the Taliban out, suit up! Your drafted

"Standing up for women" = supporting US withdrawal while tweeting complaints about the result? .
No one is pretending like the Taliban are great on the whole equality of the sexes thing. Most Islamic regimes aren't. That's not the point, and i think you know that. This was always bound to happen. They're taking their country back. The country that the US bought them
You act as if the problems women face in the Middle East are unique to them. The people there need freedom, not feminism.
