I was very ambivalent about whether we should stay there that is true. I wanted a very different kind of negotiation with the Taliban than what Trump created & Biden agreed to. But it was the president’s call. What I felt very strongly about was loyalty to our friends as we left.

Good of you to clarify: I've no agreement with the 1st two sections of your position. We're dealing with greedy pathological liars (MIC & US politicians). No way that would alter during a "negotiation." This from Glenn is how I see it & agree with you.

Yes, that's the one critique I think is cogent: they had months to get out people who worked with the US directly, but this has happened over and over. The US constantly betrays those in the countries where it invades or encourages to rise up.
