Why are you saying it’s uncool to recognize that thousands of lives could’ve been saved through a more responsible evacuation? Seriously. Please explain.

so you're not calling for continued occupation/military intervention like you were before? that's good if you've changed to "responsible evacuation" we destroy anything we touch bc our nation is a front for oligarchs who only care for profit, the less we're there the better

Are you under the impression that the "oligarchs who care for profit" are going to be affected by this? Do you think they're going to say, "Well, our budget is $760B/yr but now we won't be spending $43B in Afghanistan anymore so let's cut the budget by that much!"? They will not.

You are not their savior. Neither is the American government.

Right. So if someone is in trouble and I try to help them I should think twice and not do it because I don’t want be seen as their savior after all. What a right wing talking point the left has adopted on this one. But it’s done now. God bless them all. Forgiveness. Let’s move on

I was very ambivalent about whether we should stay there that is true. I wanted a very different kind of negotiation with the Taliban than what Trump created & Biden agreed to. But it was the president’s call. What I felt very strongly about was loyalty to our friends as we left.
