Exactly right.
“Yes, the US and the west should stop endless wars of imperial conquest. But it’s unconscionable to throw 38 million Afghans to feral wolves and squander hard-fought social and educational advances women and minorities have made over the last two decades.” independent.co.uk/independen…

You’re assuming the weak rhetorical argument for our continued presence there since circa 2003/2004 is still legitimate enough to continue our occupation? If so, couldn’t we use this same argument to intervene in countless other countries?

Absolutely not. And I’m not even making an argument for staying. I’m talking about the failure of our strategy while we were there and the irresponsibility of the way in which we exited.

What? You're literally begging the president to keep troops there?
.@SenSanders @RoKhanna @RepJayapal @KamalaHarris @janeosanders Activists are begging the president to keep the troops in Kabul today,  to send in as many C130’s as possible to evacuate women or it’s going to be a massacre. Please do what you can.

I said “today” - to get more people out. That is what I said.

America did not build a single democratic institution in #Afghanistan. The only thing that grew was institutionalized pedophilia, the opium trade, and corruption. Elections were a total charade. And after 20 years of failure, @marwilliamson prefers to live in a bubble.

Complete lie when we have evidence of you saying that we should stay…
You should have been making THIS argument, explicitly, from the beginning. Evacuation is light years away from staying.
The US did exactly what an imperialist force is supposed to do. Loot, plunder, torture, murder. You just don't seem to get the program...

I agree- and I have great respect for you and appreciation for all of your contributions- but I take issue with the way in which (at this moment) you seem to be decrying our exit as anti-progressive. There’s no world in which our continued presence leads to progress in any sphere
