So many thousands of people dead and so many billions of dollars spent on a strategy that was clearly nothing but a stop gap. An extraordinary fail. But the worst part of all is how criminally negligent they have been with the exit. How many will die who should have been rescued?

It seems to me to be a bit like wanting to rescue the ignorants in our own country who refuse to get vaccinated. Those Afghans who are thunderstruck by the rapid turn of events, running to the banks, pointing fingers of blame need to take a hard life-lesson look in the mirror.

You have far too big a platform for this misinformation unless your plan the whole time was to mimic pentagon talking points.
Resharing an old article I wrote on Afghanistan so people can familiarize themselves w the real reasons the US invaded in 2001: 1. The Taliban turned sour on the UNOCAL pipeline deal 2. The Taliban fatwa banning opium cultivation It was about drugs + oil mintpressnews.com/us-afghani…

Stop gap? What was being stopped? The heroin trade? The arms race?

I know it's hard to admit but... they don't care. Worse, also hard to admit for some of older generations... the current leaders of the US military aren't the smartest tools in the shed. They're there to serve the #MIC, not generate brilliant civililan-saving strategies.

“Lesser of two evils.” Except they lied again. At least we’re not relying on the same administration to respond to Covid, am I right? I’m sure they’re acting in competence and consideration here at home! No way would they be equally negligent in overseeing public health policy!

It is terrible for sure. How could anyone advise this as the best course of action? Who are the people running the Biden administration? They should be held accountable for all the lives lost in this debacle..... but we all know they won't.

and what does that tell you about the reasons for the US being in afghanistan

The intention has always been to enrich the MIC. They aren't concerned with human misery and loss.
