Tell me again how this woman’s suffering doesn’t matter.
Incredibly powerful interview with @sahraakarimi in Afghanistan this morning on @BBCRadioScot - I've taken this excerpt below because it is so brutally honest and from the heart, but please do go listen to the whole thing. @Fionasstalker

It definitely matters there's just nothing good the US is capable of doing about it.

At least acknowledge the moral complexity of the situation. The United States has been doing a lot about it for 20 years. That’s not even to say we should continue, but let’s stop pretending OK?

3 women a day (probably more now) are killed by their partners in the USA. Moral complexity or moral deflection?

The only pretending going on is that you give a shit about people. You're in bed with the military for $. Go away. Far far away.

Do you think Afghan women, overall, want us bombing their country?

Sexists run most things. But bombs dripped by sexists have not made things better. Our military does not show anyone our most feminist face.

The American war machine really fucks people up, eh?

What do you suggest we do? Real question. And I loved you in the debates.

Yes, the real world is morally complex. Would you like to hear a simple straight-forward first step the US government could take reduce violence and terrorism worldwide, not just Afghanistan? Stop exporting and supporting terrorism.

Let’s also not pretend they were a force of good there while they raped and murdered women so using the excuse of women’s suffering as a reason why the US is there is disingenuous
