Tell me again how this woman’s suffering doesn’t matter.
Incredibly powerful interview with @sahraakarimi in Afghanistan this morning on @BBCRadioScot - I've taken this excerpt below because it is so brutally honest and from the heart, but please do go listen to the whole thing. @Fionasstalker

Everyone’s suffering matters. Should we wage war with every country, Marianne, or only the ones with natural resources?

If Afghanistan is falling 1 week after we left, what the hell did we do for 20 years other than spend billions?? Anything on BBC, MSM will explore the horrors of NOT spending on war but never the horrors of war. People who weren't born when we started this war are fighting in it.

What about the suffering of the women that we've dropped bombs on? What about the suffering of the women that have suffered the loss of their families, livelihoods, homes, etc.? Why are you digging in on this, Marianne? You know that war is devastating for women especially.

You’re framing this disingenuously I don’t even know if it’s worth correcting you. We all believe her suffering matters, we just believe that the US cannot protect her because every second longer they stay there is another second Afghanistan loses sovereignty and control.

How about the children suffering from starvation in Yemen? Is the US helping them?

The suffering of Palestinian women should matter too.

Who is saying women's suffering doesn't matter? We have no credibility on the world stage. We blew that. We should relax restrictions for seeking political asylum, not continue to bomb them. Why are you doing this?

No one said it didn't. We're saying that US military's goal isn't, and never, was about freedom of women in Afghanistan and that your desire to continue military action there only harms the women you claim to champion.
