Tell me again how this woman’s suffering doesn’t matter.
Incredibly powerful interview with @sahraakarimi in Afghanistan this morning on @BBCRadioScot - I've taken this excerpt below because it is so brutally honest and from the heart, but please do go listen to the whole thing. @Fionasstalker

Come on now come back to America, there is plenty of suffering for you to worry about here. Your own country men and women are on the street in mass and this is what you wanna talk about? WW privileges'

literally subsets of folk in practically every country on earth suffering under some form of oppression to some degree I get the compassion, what I don't get is the arrogance America has given its own screwed up society...why you think you are capable of 'fixing' other cultures

As she says, let's not forget about Afghanistan. The fact of the matter is, the US caused far more damage to human and women's rights in the country than the Taliban has. And now, based on our government's selfish interests, all we had to show for the latest Afghan occupation /1

None of the people who didn't agree with you said this. I noticed you deleted the original tweet where you basically called them stupid.

You are so fucking cringe it’s not even funny. Donald Rumsfeld would have killed (more than he did) to have propagandists as ardent as you, Shut up, go fuck yourself, go back to talking to crystals.

So I take it the suffering of American soldiers (and their families) and Afghan civilians as a result of our occupation doesn’t matter to you either? Yes, it’s horrible how the women are treated, but what’s the solution? More intervention that means a further drain on money,

Her suffering matters. But it's dark magic to intentionally try to transmute compassion for a victim into support for racialized psychopathy directed at everyone who shares her nationality? If you cared about her suffering you'd bbq her children with a hellfire missile?

Go and save her then Marianne. If 20 years and thousands of deaths didn’t show you the folly of American involvement then you are either stupid or complicit.

US imperialism hasn’t helped Afghan women, in many ways it’s made their lives worse. Don’t listen to the propaganda and don’t use feminist talking points to encourage intervention. thenation.com/article/world/…
