Tolerance of systemic violence against women can’t be justified in the name of anti-imperialism, helping other human beings isn’t “a savior complex,” and leaving the most powerless & desperate people to fend for themselves in the hour of their agony isn’t political sophistication

Why shouldn't we invade Saudi Arabia then?

Dropping bombs on civilians for 20 years is violence against women, men, and children.

The mistake was occupying Afghanistan at all. Once that mistake was made, the outcome was inevitable, it was just a matter of time. Would you prefer the US violently occupy a nation on the far side of the world forever? That's the only real alternative. theguardian.com/commentisfre…

The US never cared about women’s rights for 20 years. Suddenly, as the US is pulling out, now the US sees and hears about Afghan women? If the US is that concerned about the Afghan people, instead of wasting trillions on a war, bring them in as refugees. Open the doors for them!

Neither you nor I can protect the women of Kabul. Their dire fate is being placed before out eyes simply to legitimize US imperialism. 20 years, trillions of dollars. You or I could have made a paradise for them somewhere. Not the US military.

The U.S. military is not the answer to this problem. It is very clearly not qualified to help human beings.

The idea you think you know what they need is the problem. We’ve been propping up a government whose soldiers abuse women and children even worse are we gonna just take over their whole system and do it for them by force indefinitely? America has a lot of human right problems too
