We could have kept 3500 troops in Afghanistan and kept a decent status quo. The Biden Administration chose withdrawal. We’re seeing a humanitarian catastrophe and geopolitical disaster unfold, and now, humiliatingly, have to send 3000 troops in to get the remaining Americans out.

If the US cared about Afghan women it wouldn't have armed the Mujahidin to overthrow the socialist PDPA gvt, which was educating girls & giving women more equal rights. Afghanistan had a real women's rights mvt & the US trashed it for geopolitics' sake. You should rethink this.

That was a lot of years ago, before the Taliban. Women today shouldn't have to suffer because the US was wrong in the 1980's.

🙄 An internal Pentagon investigation has found that a 2019 airstrike that killed up to 64 civilians in #Syria did not violate US rules of engagement or the law of war, and was not carried out with "wanton disregard" RT #Russia Cops & Militaries should not investigate themselves
So we’re going to trust the same people who created the problem to “fix it” with similar tactics? I’m sure it will work _THIS_ time.

And we’ve been doing a hell-of-a-job so far? If the US didn’t think of this issue for the past 20 years, then the US is not as reliable as some people (you) may think. Is not like 🇺🇸 was prioritizing $ over women’s rights or geopolitical power over girls education, right?

You do know what long term effects are right? There was a power vacuum created and the US supported the Taliban’s rise before the war.

Many years ago would have been a better choice than a lot of years ago
Women suffer in US-allied Wahhabi dictatorships Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and the UAE too and yet the US hosts giant military bases there, sells them hundreds of $billions of advanced arms, and lets them fund most of K street & top US think tanks.

I agree the US has made a mess of things, but my point is that the US is fundamentally incapable of cleaning it up. Your interests in Afghanistan (women's rights) are simply not the US' (great power competition). Afghans should be given the chance to fix their own nation.
