That 15yr-old boy will be traumatized for a long time over this. The family is owed more than an apology, which actually they didn't even receive. If this police dept. calls their rules "appropriate" then that community should make it clear there's nothing appropriate about them.

About the only consolation is that he knows what he's seeing in uniforms. I had an early encounter with police and I have never been shot or seriously beaten by them.

I had cops point their guns at me and it turned out to be a misunderstanding once. I wasn't traumatized, it was a mistake.
